Conversation with the Archbishop of Braga
This exchange in the cathedral of Braga, part of the launch of The Shattering of Loneliness in Portuguese, is introduced by Don Jose Manuel Garcia Cordeiro, archbishop of Braga and (by ancient tradition) Primaz das Espanhas.
He addresses the need for silence in our lives. Isn’t solitude a prerequisite for the experience of silence? What’s the relationship between solitude and loneliness? Is there a future for solitude?
A number of questions came from the floor. What is the role of hospitality in Christian mission? Have the people of our time lost the sense of the sublime? How, in this day and age, can one credibly bear Christian witness?
The conversation, in Italian and Portuguese, is available here.
