The Heights School is, according to its own mission statement, ‘a private, independent, preparatory school for boys, grades three to twelve. Our mission is to assist parents in the intellectual, moral, physical, and spiritual education of their sons, with dedicated teachers training boys rigorously in the liberal arts. This formation in virtue fosters respect for every person, a desire to serve God and others, and an optimistic attitude towards life’s challenges.’
An institute sprung from the school is the Heights Forum, which aims more widely to ‘assist parents, school leaders, and teachers in their own efforts to educate boys into men fully alive.’ You will recognise the reference to a well-known text by Irenaeus of Lyons.
Last week I enjoyed a conversation with Rich Moss from the Heights Forum about some fundamental questions that haunt our times. What is it to be human? What is it, more specifically, to be a man? Is there a ‘crisis of masculinity’ in our society?
You can listen to our conversation here.
